LPTexas News: September 2021

Have a Freedom-Filled Labor Day!

Hello Fellow LPTexans,

With our blazing temperatures, not everyone is sad to see summer go. It may not be sweater weather yet, but bring on the pumpkin spice everything! We are all winding down from the hectic year with just a few things to report, but stay till the end for memes and events!

COMMUNICATION CORNER

LPTexas has continued to grow our presence on social media and has big things brewing for the rest of the year! We are working on improved email distribution, website functionality, and the possibility of creating a merchandise store for LPTexas branded items. All of these things require more volunteers, so if you have wanted to get involved with the Party and think this may be a fit for you, we’d love to hear from you!

DEVELOPMENT NEWS

At our recent meeting in Mesquite, the State Executive Committee approved the addition of a Lifetime Membership option to our membership levels. This month we welcome eighteen new Lifetime Members to LPTexas: Arthur Thomas, Whitney Bilyeu, Andrew Amelang, Joe Burnes, Luke Troxell, Kate Prather, Stephen Decker, Steve Ravet, Jed Dupree, Scott Horton, Ed Kless, Frank Lozano, Kyle Russell, Mike Dooling. Jeinay LeBlanc, Colby Meise, and JR Haseloff.

All of these individuals are committed to donating a total of $1500 to LPTexas before the end of the year; several have already paid in full. If you would like to join this game-changing group of early adopters and become a Lifetime Member before the donation requirement increases to $1836 on January 1, please go to LPTexas.org/lifetime_membership where you will be given the option of donating $1500 in one transaction or starting a monthly payment plan that will have your full donation paid on or before December 31.

At our November meeting, the Executive Committee will be taking up the matter of providing a full spectrum of member benefits from Basic to Lifetime. If you have any suggestions you’d like us to consider for any of the seven levels of membership, please email your Development Department at [email protected]

If you have questions about becoming a Lifetime Member, please contact your Development Director at [email protected]

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

This month we would like to recognize Billy Pierce. Some months don't always have a lot of action, but when we heard about the city of Houston holding a meeting to discuss the Constitutional Carry bill, Billy hopped into action to ensure that the Houston City Council heard the Libertarian voices in their community and knew that they would not stand for the city getting in the way of our constitutional right to bear arms. It's small acts like these that help us make our communities more free.

EVENTS!

The Libertarian Party is bringing campaign and leadership training to Region 7 on the weekend of September 25th at the Hilton Garden Inn Shreveport.  LPTexas will join our host LP Louisiana and fellow LNC Region 7 affiliates for this training.

The mission is to familiarize Libertarian candidates and staff with the basic elements of running a political campaign and to train present and future affiliate leaders.

If you are a prospective candidate, campaign volunteer, or interested in taking a more active role with the LP, join us in Shreveport in September.
